I'm easy, man!

Stanley, Federated Commonwealth, 3041-02-07

The weeks we spent on Stanley began to last longer because there was nothing going on and our needs for recreation were really saturated. However we did not get the money for hanging around, as intruders were reported suddenly. About seven Battlemechs, which were estimtated to be pirates, were accompanied by a convoy of trucks. It would have lasted too long for the troops of Federated Commonwealth to engage with them, so we finally had to fulfill our job. The enemy 'Mechs had seperated themselves from the transporters, leaving them without any protection. Our hovers intercepted them before they could load anything into their cargo. Tore Heimstad insisted, that some of us remained at the castle. Maybe he presumed a distraction or maybe he was just a little paranoid. Only HOD Leader, HOD-3, HOD-7, HOD-8 and HOD-10 went after the pirates. Now HOD-10 could prove, if she had the skills to be a real Harbinger of Defeat.

HOD Leader controlled his brand-new Charger, HOD-3 took the RiflemanIII again, HOD-7 was thrilled about his Awesome, HOD-8 was sticking to her Banshee and HOD-10 borrowed the Grasshopper from HOD-4. Intelligence reports were accurate and we faced seven 'Mechs. We supposed to try a flank attack if they would encounter in a group, but they sensed that and divided in two groups. This left our flankers HOD Leader and HOD-10 alone against a lance of heavy and assault 'Mechs, while our long-range 'Mechs had a slight advantage, facing a Catapult, a Crusader and nearly an identical Awesome. The list of enemy 'Mechs was completed by an Ostroc, a Thunderbolt, a Victor and a Cyclops.
Before battle began, there was little conversation between our Leader and their Capitan.
We are the Harbingers of Defeat. We protect this planet against any intruders. Declare your authority.

Hey man, I'm Capitan Raul Pepitro. I don't care 'bout your bollocks. Go home, boy.

We are at home already.

Do ya wanna see something really spooky? Let's brawl.

Our first target were the Crusader and the Victor, presuming Capitan Pepitro piloting the ladder. Our longe-range 'Mechs crippled the Crusader very fast and after HOD-7 teared one arm apart, the Crusader backed out. The failed plan of a flank attack claimed our first victim. A well placed repetitive shot by the Victors autocannon destroyed one torso of HOD Leaders Charger and took a 'Mech out of battle, that had only taken minor damage yet. After the Cyclops unleashed another double autocannon strike, this time against HOD-10, we concentrated on the 'Mechs with the heavy weapons. The Grasshopper also lost one torso, but HOD-10 was still able to fight. HOD-3 and HOD-8 both landed head shots to the Awesome and to the Ostroc, but neither could draw crucial damage. The Victor and HOD-10 exchanged fire, leaving the Victor without his feared autocannon paired with a damaged gyro and the Grasshopper without any arms. Before it could wreck more 'Mechs, HOD-3 eliminated the other autocannon, turning the Cyclops into a minor threat. Besides the Awesome the Thunderbolt was the most dangerous 'Mech left. That is because of the Catapults inability to hit anyone of us with his long range missiles. About ninety percent of his rockets went to the ground, so we did not really recognized him, but the Thunderbolt got almost in close combat range. At first HOD-3 ripped off the arm with the large laser, then HOD-8 crushed the left torso. During the skirmish between HOD-10 and the Victor we were in luck. The pilot lost control of his 'Mech, fell to the ground and exploded. This gave HOD-10 a chance to seek shelter. The enemy tried to retreat as they noticed their inevitable defeat.

Pepitro was still in one of the remaining 'Mechs gave us his message on the radio:
Hey guys, you're really uncool. Man, we'll be back and then we're gonna show you something spooky, something creepy, something you've never seen before.

But the next shocker came from our side. HOD-3 unleashed two gauss rifles in the head of the Ostroc giving us our first salvage in this battle. A taste of spookiness twinkled as the Catapult hit HOD-7 at last. Nearly out of ammunition he managed to shut HOD-7s 'Mech down and made it a lot easier for the Crusader and the Cyclops to rescue themselves. HOD-8 tried to get the Thunderbolt, but the stunted 'Mech got away. At the end it was Capitan Pepitro facing HOD-3 and HOD-8. Pepitro picked on HOD-8 and succeded in shutting her down with a critical hit on her gauss rifle. He had only a few seconds to enjoy this lucky shot because HOD-3 recorded another headshot with one of his gauss rifles. HOD-3 made history as he was the first 'Mech pilot in our unit, that left a battle with an unscathed 'Mech.

Capitan Pepitro survived the headshot. Though he took several minor injuries we found him smoking pot, what seemed to be a kind of obsession, allowing him to be more comfortable in battle. The remaining four 'Mechs tried to evade and headed for their dropship. All but the Cyclops managed to do so. He was chased by our Corsairs and could not escape. Interrogation revealed that their unit is known as Black Greed. We worked out a deal, that gave us 20,000,000.- C-notes. In return we let him and his unit leave Stanley and he had to assure, that he never ever will be found in an act of piracy on this planet again.
